Swarovski teams up with Yoko Ono for Fashion’s Night Out 2012

SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS tapped Yoko Ono to design two crystal key cuts for the brand which will launch exclusively for FNO in New York at the SWAROVSKI CRYSTALLIZED Store (499 Broadway) in NYC and on Swarovskicrystallized.com.

Drawing inspiration from the theme of ‘Unlocking the Door to a Better Life’, Yoko Ono designed a two limited-edition crystal cut keys titled, “KEY TO OPEN THE UNIVERSE” and “KEY TO OPEN THE FOREST” which combine Yoko Ono’s trademark playfulness with a search for deeper philosophical meaning. The KEY TO OPEN THE UNIVERSE is placed on a silver chain to become a pendant, symbolizing her hopes and dreams for our planet: “Imagine a key that unlocks the door to the forest with its secrets, to the sky with its peacefulness, to the universe with its infinity, to a future with a promise for a better life.” The limited-edition pendant will retail for $350, with only 1,300 produced, each pendant is engraved with Yoko Ono’s signature and its limited-edition number. The KEY TO OPEN THE FOREST comes in two sizes in 7 colorways and retails for $90 and $190, a medium and large respectively.

In addition to Yoko Ono’s crystal cuts, SWAROVSKI created a jewelry collection inspired by her designs which will retail for $100-$410 and will also debut in New York City for FNO. Additionally, Yoko Ono’s renowned Wishing Tree (http://imaginepeacetower.com/yoko-onos-wish-trees) will be integrated into the SWAROVSKI CRYSTALLIZED NYC store so guests on FNO can leave their wishes.

This month, SWAROVSKI GEMS, Swarovski’s division for genuine and created gemstones, celebrated the launch of the new gemstone, Marcasite. We had the opportunity to attend the party. SWAROVSKI GEMS tapped jewelry designers such as Stephen Webster, Stephen Dweck and Judith Jack to create one-of-a-kind pieces using the new SWAROVSKI GEMS Marcasite. These pieces are featured in the book Natural Reflection, created by the brand especially for the launch. In honor of Natural Reflection, SWAROVSKI GEMS and Daniel Cohen, Member of the Executive Board, hosted the event at New York City’s Glasshouse 21 where the designer pieces were showcased throughout the evening. A mixture of designers and socials were in attendance, including Stephen Dweck, Ippolita, Rebecca Taylor, Alex Woo, Walt Adler Chefitz, Emma Snowdon-Jones, Patrick McDonald, and Modern Luxury’s James Aguiar.
